Our Animals
Our Species
New Zealand’s unique ecosystem has no native mammals, meaning all the animals here were introduced. Without proper management, their populations can grow rapidly, causing harm to our environment. We’re fortunate to offer a diverse range of South Island species that few places can match. At Snowline Hunting we offer a spectacular hunters playground where yo can hunt Tahr, Chamois, red deer, fallow deer, and pigs.
Let’s Go Hunting
RED DEER
A prized trophy, Red Stag are one of New Zealand’s most sought-after game animals, known for their mighty antlers and robust stature.
PIGS
Wild pigs, also known as boars, are challenging to hunt, offering an exhilarating pursuit in New Zealand’s dense forests and bushlands.
FALLOW DEER
Distinguished by their palmate antlers and spotted coats, Fallow Deer offer a unique hunting experience in the South Island’s varied landscapes.
TAHR
Majestic and sure-footed, Tahr are mountain-dwelling goats known for their impressive horns and thick, reddish coats, often found on rugged alpine terraine.
CHAMOIS
Agile and elusive, Chamois are small antelope-like animals, recognized for their sharp horns and incredible ability to navigate steep, rocky slopes.
Firearms and Equipment
At Snowline Ridge Hunting, your guide Bailey can provide firearms and ammunition, or you’re welcome to bring your own. For hunting in New Zealand, a caliber between .270 and .300 Win Mag is recommended.
If you plan to bring your own firearm, you will need a firearms import permit ($25 NZD), which can be easily obtained from the New Zealand Police website. Please note that handguns are not permitted.
A full equipment list will be provided during the booking process.
